Kolmanskop was a town built by 1912 following the discovery of diamonds in the area, which led to production of a million carats a year. the opulent town was abandoned in 1956 and the buildings are gradually being reclaimed by the encroaching sand of the Namib desert. In some of the rooms the sand reached half-way up the walls. I was particularly drawn to this scene, looking through the two rooms to the unhinged door, and the beautiful blue tones of the walls.
