Wedding
The Strand Theatre, Belfast
Canon EOS 5D Mk III, Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM II, Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flash triggered wirelessly to camera left & diffused with a white shoot-through umbrella.
Grace & Danielle had a specularly unique wedding ceremony, in the Strand Theatre; the first ceremony to be held there in it's 87 year history. With the ceremony taking place in the movie house we experiemented with that narrative with a set of shots with the couple after they tied the knot. In this image the concept is giving a view as if looking through the old style 3D glasses. In order to do this I had to precisely hold the glasses up to my 35mm lens whilst manually focusing through the red & blue lenses to ensure the clarity of the couple in the shot. My partner, Rebecca, held a diffused flash up to camera left to ensure the photograph popped with light and colour. Furthermore, there is a mixed media element to the image, as I recommend viewing it through a pair of 3D glasses as seen in the image - this creates an inverted effect through each lens of the glasses and provides a further element of theatre to the piece.
