Fuvamulah, Maldives
Canon 1Dx M3, Canon EF 16-35mm
The little-known island of Fuvamulah, Maldives, is home to a residential population of tiger sharks (locally known as “femunu miyaru”). With 200 individuals identified, including several pregnant and juvenile individuals, Fuvahmulah boasts an incredibly healthy tiger shark population. The unique geography of this island pinnacle and the distinctive patterns of surrounding ocean currents make it a cleaning station and mating area for many other pelagic species, including hammerhead sharks, thresher sharks and oceanic manta rays.
