Self Portrait
Belfast
bronica etrs
Hazy colours, grain and toughness set the tone in this selfportrait. I sit in front of a red velvet backdrop with hair slicked and eye blackened, the image was created to represent the hardships of growing up queer in the North of Ireland. body turnt away from the camera but eyes locked into the lens to confront the viewer. Image was taken in my home in Belfast. I used a Bronica Etrs Medium format camera with portra 400 120 film. I used 2 lights to light the image and a velvet backdrop for the image. I scanned the images at home and decided on keeping the dust in the image as i feel it adds to the aesthetic i wanted to achieve.
