I wanted to confront the sexually menacing that is camouflaged by beauty in history paintings. I used my camera as a pallet knife and created layers (if you look closely there is even a 'ground' backdrop). Susanna and the elders was a popular subject matter in the Renaissance and the Baroque period but the backstory is based in the threat of sexual assault. In this image I go back in time and fight the villains and save Susanna. I only used natural light and no photoshop was used, I wanted complete transparency. I like to think of myself as a history photographer.
