These 2.5mm slime moulds were growing on a decaying nettle stem that was part of a pile that had been cut to make a pathway accessible, at a nature reserve in Hertfordshire. I used a torch and a ten times loupe to search for a pleasing composition. This species has a unique and beautiful, spindle shaped fruiting body. They are not rare but seldom seen due to their diminutive size. I used one extension tube and a macro lens. The camera settings were 1/4 sec, f4, ISO 200. It is a 56 shot focus bracket that has been stacked using Zerene Stacker.
