Hume Castle near Duns in the Scottish Borders
DJI Mavic 2 Pro
I set off from my home in East Lothian at 3am. I passed deer, hares, and hundreds of rabbits en route. I set up at 4:30am in the blue hour and wanted to capture the summer solstice from this ancient location. But, whilst there has been fortifications at this site for thousands of years, this particular structure is a folly. A fake designed to look good for the Earls of Marchmont in the 18th Century. As the sun appeared, I was positioned behind the castle, with my strongest possible ND filer (32) and pointing straight at the sun. Summer Solstice 2022 in the Scottish Borders was magnificent.
