Suffolk prickles hedgehog rescue centre, Stonham Aspal, Suffolk
Canon EOS-1 DX MKII and EF 100-400mm lens, 1/100th sec at F5.6 iso 3200
Hedgehogs are declining rapidly across the British isles due to many factors. This image is of a baby orphaned hedgehog being fed milk via a syringe at a local hedgehog rescue centre run by our friends. Despite having full time jobs they regularly have to feed the young babies throughout the night. Generally the hoglets need to be fed every two hours so when the rescue centre has several different families a nights sleep is very rare. The good news for this little one is it was successfully released into the wild when it was large enough to do so.
