Finding sleeping invertebrates is always great, but finding 2 very close together is just absolutely awesome! So when I noticed these two lovely Cuckoo Bees (Epeolus sp.) holding onto some dried grass with their mandibles, fast asleep, my bag was instantly dropped and I laid down on the wet ground to get a low angle. Unfortunately for the initial composition, these two weren't close enough to fit in the frame together. Now I don't have any clamps or tripods to use so I had to hold each stem in-between my fingers and gently move them closer together, being careful not to disturb the bees or damage their 'beds'. This is a focus stack of 8 images merged together in photoshop. 1/160, f13, ISO 100.
