Nikon d7500 and sigma 105mm macro lens
I noticed this cream spotted ladybird making its way up an old fence post. It stood out to me due to the contrasting colours of the insect to the grey wood. As I kneeled down to get in close, the ladybird crept into a shallow crevice. It was almost as if it thought it was now hidden from me. This gave me a perfect opportunity to play with my settings and get a close up photograph of the pattern on its back. I then realised I actually preferred a wider frame including the wooden post it was sitting on. The dark greys made the colours of the ladybird stand out more and resulted in a far better image.
