Canon 7D Mk II, Canon L Series f4 500mm, Manfrotto Tripod
Photographed at RSPB Snettisham in October as a high tide forced a record 140,000 Knots into the lagoon. The oystercatchers were outnumbered, so most retreated to the top of the bank, whilst others got caught in the middle. I wanted to try and isolate one, with its bright orange beak and dark plumage contrasting against the throng of Knots, whilst emphasising the sheer number of birds. Light levels were low, which required a high ISO, so I used a wide aperture to try and keep the shutter speed as high as possible to freeze the action. ISO6400, f6.3, 1/160th sec.
