Palace Pier, Brighton

I spent many evenings during the winter of 2019-20 watching the mesmerising starling murmurations on Brighton's Palace Pier. Starlings arrive en masse from the continent to overwinter across Britain from November through to February. Each evening they gather into large flocks and perform dizzying aerial displays before swooping down to the pier's structure to roost. This was taken during my last visit and I love the dynamic movement of the birds as they flew low over the water, leading your eye to the iconic Helter-Skelter at the end of the pier.
