Description

What is it about the relationship between humans and horses that is so enduring? This teenage boy and gentle giant are so utterly at ease with with each other. The image tells a story of a shared connection, almost like a dream. This scene was not posed. I just happened to turn around and see the two of them, in the dark barn but bathed in a few rays of the most glorious light. I had to think fast and take a calculated risk on the correct camera settings. I decided to up the ISO to 800. Any higher would risk introducing noise into this glorious scene. I only had a split second to shoot 3 or 4 frames with my Canon 50 mm Prime Lens at 5.6 1/125 before the moment had passed. Magic. This is the sort of moment that makes all the hard work worth it.
