Woodland close to Armthorpe, Doncaster
Nikon D750, Tamron 90mm Macro, Sirui Tripod
Following a very wet start to October mushrooms sprang up everywhere, inspired by the work of the Dutch photographer Daniel Laan I set out investigating local woodland for pleasing compositions. I found this small solitary Common Inkcap growing out of some moss on a fallen tree and noticed three more further along. It was an overcast late afternoon which provided perfect lighting through the trees, great to create a moody fantasy style image. I focus stacked several images at a wide aperture to get the soft background and then used a torch at a smaller aperture (for longer exposure and greater DoF) to provide the glow through the mushrooms and blended the exposures together. ISO 100, f3.3, 1/20s and f10 0.6s. It is my first attempt at something like this and also my first attempt at focus stacking macro images.
