Description

I am working on a conservation project to protect our native, white-clawed crayfish. Part of this work entails producing a series of images of the non-native signal crayfish. The river below my house is chocka-block full of them. I picked a sunny day to get enough light below the water and put the tank in front of one of the large crayfish. They are not all out in daylight but there are so many it does not take long before I can find one foraging. The crayfish is aware of the camera and is reacting to it with it's typical threat display waving its gorgeous red claws. This summer all our rivers are very low because of the drought, which made my photography much easier.
