Ernst Van Dyk storms passed Buckingham Palace with 300m to go in the Virgin London Marathon 2018 with a passing glance over his shoulder as he does so. He is at the end of an eventful and extremely hot race. After about 11km into the race Van Dyk destroyed one of his tyres after being attacked by a rogue pothole. Born without legs Van Dyk is a legend at both wheelchair and hand-bike racing winning multiple events including hand cycling gold at 2008 Beijing Paralympics and has competed at the top level for almost 20 years. In 2006 he won his category at the Laureus World Sports Awards.
