Llanllwni mountains, Wales
Nikon D7200, Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 VC USD lens
With the full moon being so bright I decide to do a night trek up Llanllwni mountains, Wales, to find some compositions. And after a while with no luck I sat down, a little deflated, and I looked up and saw all these small moths fluttering in the grass creating beautiful silhouettes. I wanted to try and capture this magical scene close-up, and using my telephoto lens I had to position my self a fair distance from these tiny subjects to get the close-up image I was after. I opted for a 1/400sec shutter speed to make sure the moth was in focus because they do not sit still for long and because I was having to hand hold the shot. After I took the image I was just over the moon, and continued to watch these beautiful moths dance in the moonlight.
