Sometimes an image exceeds expectations and this was one of those occasions. A long drive and walk took me to one of Britain's finest viewpoints on the caldera of the ancient Cuillin. From my lofty viewpoint of almost 500m I found myself surrounded by the majestic snow-topped ridge. The wind buffeted me but my tripod remained steady and as the sun moved behind the clouds on top of the mountains, its rays shone through just in time to illuminate the ground at my feet. The elements had combined in dramatic fashion.
