Males, Geoff and Marley have a Territorial Dispute on the banks of the Cuiaba river. This was a great scene to watch unfold. We spotted the older male Geoff resting in the shade on a sandbank and followed him, by boat, when he got up and started moving along the river. Occasionally opting to take a swim rather than work his way through the dense bush. As he was plodding along we saw the younger male Marley coming from the opposite direction along the same piece of bank. This was where the two Jaguars met, had a growl at each other and put on a bit of a display. They did this for several minutes, sizing each other up and throwing the odd punch. There was no physical contact, it was all for display. Geoff is the experienced cat and can be seen here taking a lunge at Marley. Eventually they continued on their way and we stayed with Geoff and watched him attempt to hunt. I shot this wide as I wanted to get both cats in rather than just faces. I chose a slightly slower shutter speed than I would have normally used as I wanted to show some movement in the cats limbs rather than freeze the moment. ISO 400, F8, 1/800
