Description

December is rainy season in Gombe Stream National Park in Western Tanzania. My guide and I had been caught in a heavy downpour as we climbed a steep forested hillside. As we reached the top the skies cleared and an adult chimpanzee scurried across our path. We followed down a slope to find a small troop of chimpanzees gathering to feed in one of the trees. This youngster was more intent on playing than eating though and as he swung through the branches the drops of water fell from his coat showering the adults below.
