Drone
Portbury Wharf
DJI Phantom 4 Pro
This stretch of coastline around Portbury Wharf holds a unique beauty, possibly not seen by all. I however find this environment both relaxing and a perfect place to reflect. Take to the air and the real beauty is abundant. The natural patterns cut into the mud flats are both intricate and fascinating to follow with your eye. The timing for this image was so important as I wanted a low tide and a setting sun to soften the light and warm up the colour tones, so patience was an integral part of the process. Using a drone, made this image possible as I was able to obtain this unique perspective. The camera attached to the drone is a fixed 24mm and I used ISO 100 for maximum detail with a fast shutter speed to freeze any movement. At a height of 400 feet, aperture is of little importance. Due to the distance from the subject, this image was captured at f3.5. I am very happy with how this image tells the story of the transient movements of the sea and how nothing is permanent.
